The Stieber AS 20mm freewheel is a compact, non-bearing-supported roller-type unit, designed specifically for applications requiring external bearing support. Engineered for shaft diameters of Ø20 mm, this model supports clutch overrunning speeds of up to 2200 rpm (inner race) and amax 3300 rpm (outer race), with a maximum torque capacity of 40 Nm and drag torque of 1.4 Nm.

The AS series matches the outer dimensions of 62-series deep groove ball bearings, enabling seamless integration into standard housings. The inner race is keyed to the shaft (except AS6), while the outer race is designed for press-fit assembly with an R6 tolerance into an H7 housing. For optimal performance, the housing must maintain its rigidity after press-fitting to avoid radial displacement.

Lubrication and sealing are not built-in and must be provided externally, with oil lubrication being the recommended standard. The unit also allows axial misalignment tolerance of ±S/2 between inner and outer races.
