4XX-AKSThe BJ-Gear Stainless Steel Actuator – Standard is a modular, configurable electric linear actuator developed for industries where hygiene, durability, and precise linear motion are critical. Based on a worm gear drive with a trapezoidal spindle, it delivers consistent axial motion and a robust load capacity of up to 29.4 kN in standard versions.
As a fully electric actuator, it operates without hydraulic fluids, eliminating the risk of leakage and contamination. This makes it particularly suitable for food, beverage, and pharmaceutical production, where clean operation and controlled motion are essential.
Constructed entirely from stainless steel (EN 1.4301 / AISI 304) and developed in compliance with EN 1672-2 hygienic design standards, the actuator is IP69K-rated, allowing high-pressure, high-temperature cleaning from all directions. Its modular design enables configuration of stroke lengths (standard up to 600 mm, longer on request), motor sizes, gear ratios, and connection options, ensuring reliable operation, compact integration, and easy cleaning.
More Information
Description

An electric linear actuator is primarily used in applications where intermittent axial movement and precise positioning are required. As an electric solution, it is a highly suitable alternative to hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders due to its direct connection to electrical control systems and its inherent hygienic advantages.
Because the actuator operates without hydraulic fluids or compressed air, there is no risk of leakage that could contaminate the surrounding environment. This makes electric actuators particularly well suited for use in food, beverage, and pharmaceutical production, where clean operation and process safety are essential. In addition, electric actuators provide a steady and controlled speed across the entire load range, unlike hydraulic and pneumatic solutions where speed may vary with pressure and load.
The dynamic tensile and compression force of standard products is up to 28.23 kN. Higher force levels can be achieved through customised solutions.
Actuators with trapezoidal spindle
This actuator type features a simple and robust construction, based on BJ-Gear worm gearboxes combined with cylindrical stainless steel tubes and an internally threaded spindle. The trapezoidal spindle design ensures reliable load handling, stable positioning, and long service life under demanding operating conditions.
When configured with a ball screw, linear speeds of up to approximately 2800 mm/min can be achieved in standard products. Higher speeds are available through customised configurations, depending on application requirements.
Protection
The stainless steel actuator is rated IP69K, ensuring that it can be cleaned with high-pressure, high-temperature water from all directions. During IP69K testing, the actuator is sprayed with water at angles of 0°, 30°, 60° and 90° for an interval of 30 seconds at each position, from a distance of 10–15 cm. The water temperature must be at least 80 °C, with a flow rate of 14–16 litres per minute.
Additionally, the actuator is mounted on a turntable rotating at 5 rpm during testing. This level of protection requires an equally high degree of dust tightness, resulting in the IP69K classification, which is widely used and recognised within the food processing industry.
Maximum permissible axial load of trapezoidal spindle (buckling load)
The maximum permissible axial load depends on the selected stroke length and actuator configuration, as illustrated below.
